Strauss: New Dimensions

The Johann Strauss Museum commissioned an immersive exhibition that reinterprets the composer’s life and legacy through contemporary media design. The spatial concept follows a biographical arc—from birth to death—guiding visitors through a sequence of thematic rooms that unfold as both timeline and emotional journey.

Central to the experience is a location-aware audio system: visitors wear tracked headphones that automatically synchronize with each station, creating a seamless, individualized narrative layer without visible interfaces or manual interaction.

The exhibition culminates in a 360° projection room, where Strauss’s musical universe envelops the visitor in a panoramic finale. Light, sound, and spatial composition merge into an immersive climax that transforms passive listening into physical presence within the music itself.

The design bridges historical storytelling with sensor-driven interaction, offering an intimate yet expansive encounter with Vienna’s waltz king.
