VISTA Science Experience Center
The Institute of Science and Technology Austria commissioned a central media installation for its circular, glass-enclosed visitor center. The task was to introduce the institute’s research environment through a spatial, intuitive media experience while preserving the architectural clarity of the room.
The final concept consists of seven freestanding media steles positioned along the building’s radial geometry. Three of these steles are kinetic elements that rotate around their vertical axes, echoing the natural movement of visitors passing through the space.
Each kinetic station features a fully three-dimensional interface design that translates familiar 2D media paradigms—such as panels, tabs, and timelines—into sculptural, spatial interaction surfaces. This approach creates a tactile, spatialized mode of information navigation that reflects the institute’s progression from abstract inquiry to concrete scientific innovation.
The installation merges architecture, motion, and digital communication into a cohesive system, forming a calm yet dynamic centerpiece for the visitor experience.
