Voestalpine BÖHLER Opening

For the inauguration of voestalpine BÖHLER’s state-of-the-art stainless steel production facility in Kapfenberg, Ars Electronica Solutions produced a large-scale opening event staged directly within the factory halls. The show concept guided 600 guests through an immersive journey tracing the company’s history from its origins as a hammer mill in 1870 to the present day.

The production combined staged performances, atmospheric sound design, and real-time generative visuals synchronized to a live music ensemble led by composer Rupert Huber. A choreographed industrial robot by Creative Robotics and performances by actual plant employees added layers of authenticity and spectacle.

The visual design translated the industrial environment into an abstract, dynamic narrative—responding to musical composition and spatial staging in real time. The event transformed a functional production space into a temporary media environment, merging corporate history, contemporary media art, and live performance into a cohesive ceremonial experience.
